I would like to vote in favor of the "old" method of showing defective applications - that is - highlighted in pink once we go in to proof-read what has been scanned. Correcting the errors on the screen is far preferrable to entering manually, or rescanning. In this very large council with scanned batches that typically number 20 applications or more, making corrections on the screen would save a lot of time.

The original process of recognizable scanned applications with errors appearing in green, yellow or red and being able to correct them on the screen has not changed. Only applications that cannot be properly recognized by the scanning software are removed from the scanned batch allowing the good applications to be processed through.

The highlighted color corrections are:

Green - Required information was recognized and record can be posted.
Yellow - Not all information was recognized. Check details and determine if changes are needed.
Red - Something critical is missing, and the record cannot be posted until corrected.
Adding the status (R,M,N,T) to the non-unit registrant renewal roster would save hours of time and buckets of frustration when districts are submitting their District Renewal and when registering the Council Board, Members-at-Large, etc.

When searching an individual's prior registration record they aren't listed in chronological order in ScoutNet. Doing so would save quite a bit of time when we need to check on this for a volunteer, especially if they've been registered since ScoutNet went live.

Thank you for your suggestion to have prior year registrations listed in chronological order by date. We have requested that the next time the Person Profile form is updated, that this enhancement be made.
When a leader transfers his primary registration to another unit his Scouting subscription ends because he no longer has a fully paid registration. Why deprive our hard working volunteers of this valuable resource because they have a transfer registration?

Currently if a member in a unit needs to replace a membership card, I can go into the unit, highlight their name, and print a card. Easy.

If a non-unit registrant, such as a District Chairman, needs to replace his/her card, I must go into the Registration Print Que and go through the many steps needed to find that individual in order to print a card. Not so easy.

A PRINT CARD option on the person record would eliminate all of these extra steps. This would also show me which position their primary registration is in the event that they wear more than one hat.

Thank you for your suggestion on facilitating the process of reprinting membership cards for non-unit registrants. We will review the current card submission process for non-unit registrants and determine the best course of action which could include adding a search feature to Registrant Print Queue or a Print Card button to the Person Profile.

When entering/creating a new record for a leader (or youth) there is no field to enter the cell phone number on the screen. In order to add the cell phone number you must get to the point where you can 'maintain person' and then go through the steps needed to add a "mobile" number. Could a cell phone number field be added to the screen? The phone number field on the app could even take the same format as the email addresses.

Also, when an email address is entered, could it default to primary? Often I have to go in to the record and mark the email address as primary before I can proceed.

Thank you for suggestion of adding a cell phone field to the new member screen. Based on other priorities, we will not be making this change during the next 12 months.

Thank for your suggestion on providing a default process to mark e-mail as primary. We have reviewed your suggestion and we will not be adding that feature to the system. We currently have a process which runs everyday and will mark an e-mail address as primary if there is no other address entered for an individual.

Often I have to print just one label or envelope for a cubmaster or scoutmaster. But, in order to do so I have to open the person's record, write down the address, open up Word, type the address, and print the label/envelope.

Could there be a button added to the individual's profile page for "Print Label" ? This could feed directly to the print repository or to the printer.

A special 100th Anniversary Unit Charter Certificate is in production now.
Wouldn't it be nice if the Charter Certificates also indicated that this unit is a Centennial Quality Unit?

Sounds like a good idea. We’ll have the appropriate folks take a look at it to see if it’s feasible.

With unit, non-unit, district, and council rosters available online from ScoutNet is it really necessary to print expire rosters for archive storage? Think of all the resources we could save by printing these items on a per request basis.

Good question. The expire rosters are a key and overlooked element in the registration files. They should provide a point in time snap shot who was active in the unit at time of recharter. Our retention policy calls for applications to be shredded after three years, the expire roster is only printed material of record that is retained.

I always put the extra sheet of perfectly good paper back into the printer. I also use discarded sheets that are printed only on one side to make my own route sheets.

Our council has used the "Jeans OK for United Way" stickers for years. It's one of our best fundraisers for United Way. We sell them for $5 each, with a limit of 5 and they must be used by year end.

Our local Scout Shops have started selling a fabric bag! I've bought 2 so far and may buy a few more to use as gifts and at the grocery store. What a GREAT way to advertise Scouting!!!

And no boy should take Woodcarving (Finger Carving) until he has earned the First Aid Merit Badge. This was something we strongly suggested in our troop.

The nice ladies in the National Registration Service are the ones who informed me of this when I called about a volunteer who had suddenly stopped getting his Scouting magazine. This was probably 2-3 years ago. I recently had a volunteer who came in and made the same comment about his Scouting magazine. When I checked his record, sure enough he was a transfer.

Does this include the Disclosure/Authorization form???

In our council the packs charter in a different month from the troops, teams and crews, so the transfer button is usable. The trouble with using the transfer option on internet rechartering is that it doesn't properly transfer the youth out of the other unit. We must delete the youth being transferred and then click the 'transfer registrant' button on the bottom. The transfer button should be removed altogether.

Chef Duff would be a natural for this ... it would be awesome. Thumbs up all the way!

Let's include our newly announced 2 Millionth Eagle Scout in the Macy's Parade!!! (We don't have to wait until 2010 for this)

I agree that pre-ScoutNet rosters should be saved. But, since 1999 when ScoutNet went live these records are now electronic.
Is it still necessary to print them every year?
