Two executives from my council have been doing Community Group FOS Presentations this year to try and find new ways to raise money in a tight economy. They have made and are scheduled to do presentations with such groups as Service Clubs, Chambers of Commerce events, Fraternal Organizations and any other community group that may want to hear about our organization. Results are still being gathered but I wanted to throw the idea out in case others could use it. It is just like doing a Family FOS Presentation but personalized to the group being addressed. I have attached a PowerPoint Presentation that SR. DE, Kevin Harris, created for his presentations. I hope this helps others out.
I think it would be neat to have a system set up nationally where potential charter partners could go for information about sponsoring a scout unit or LFL Group. They could then submit their information which could be forwarded to the corresponding council for follow up. This site could also be used to market Scouting to large organizations that National has connections with.

My idea wouldn’t replace the local councils' responsibility to find and cultivate charter partners but would be used to enhance it. My brother-in-law is a mortgage broker and receives leads weekly from his national organization from people who have expressed interested in their services. He then contacts them and sees if he can help. This idea could sure help our program to grow.

I think this is an excellant idea. The more we can let potential charter organizations know how to connect with us,the more partners we are going to have for youth to join in their neghborhoods.
I just filled out a government form for student aid (the FAFSA) for a masters degree I am pursuing and the government allows you to sign up for an electronic signature. It would be so easy for us to do the same thing for rechartering especially since we ask a lot of the same questions to register online during rechartering (i.e. Social Security Number, drivers license, etc.) This would make us a much more user friendly organization.

The integration of electronic signatures for use in registration, reservations, and other web based applications is currently under review by the legal, risk management, and membership resource departments to determine viability. Needless to say there are a number of factors that must be overcome when security and privacy issues are involved especially with children.
It would be so much easier for units rechartering online if after they enter all of the information for new adults and youth to have the option of printing out adult/youth applications with all of the information filled out except for the signatures. It is such a waste of time for the leaders to fill out all of the personal data electronically just to turn around to fill it out again by hand on an application. This would speed up the process greatly.

Enhancements to the On-line Recharter process are continuously looked at by the Membership Resources Team and Information Systems Department. This particular recommendations is in alignment with the on-going study of on-line applications. The posted comment is correct in that the registration process always starts with a filled out application (currently a hard copy).
