I expect a large push back on this but what if we could deliver Scouting online via the current Lone Scout Program? The GSoUSA seem to have a similiar program where girls can join online and complete badges and such. I'm guessing they can take advantage of any outdoor program the council offers. I know that a tenant of the Scouting program is positive adult interaction but new times need new ideas.

I could see some of the curriculum on-line eventually. However, we would not want to limit the adult mentoring and outdoor methods that have a greater impact.
I just heard on the Radio today the FTD Florists started in 1910 as well. Any consideration of co-marketing with these groups or companies?

The BSA has a major initiative underway to seek corporate sponsors for the 100th anniversary. Several including AT&T and Accenture have made a major committment. And that is just the "A's". Appreciate the support from the field.
The "Ready to Rock" Venturing Pamphlets are still listed in the annual Venturing Highlight brochure, last time I checked. Last time we tried to order them, we were told it has not been available for some time. I think we need a replacement for that.

The Membership Impact Department is actively engaged in developing many resources for Youth Serving Executives to help sell not only Venturing, but all of the traditional programs to new potential chartered partners. New materials, that are in line with the National theme, are in the process.

How about getting a bunch of Boy Scouts on a float or some other representation in the Macy's Parade? Not sponsoring nessasarily but volunteering to ride on one or as a group or as balloon wranglers.....

From: Bob Mersereau, 100th Anniversary Project Manager

Pleased to report that several councils in the New York City area are working together exploring possibility of a Scouting presence in the 2010 Macy’s parade. We’ll share news on that as more becomes known. (In a similar way, a group of California councils are collaborating on participation in the 2010 Tournament of Roses Parade.)

Participation in national, and local, parades is a great way help raise awareness of Scouting in communities. Encourage your council anniversary celebration committee to identify the major parades in your area and arrange for Scouting involvement. In fact, more than just marching, challenge those organizing participation to conduct a brainstorm for creative ideas of how Scouts could participate in parade that would make it fun and inspiring but also encourage other youth to join, adults to volunteer, and individuals to be financial supporters of Scouting. You might be pleased and surprised by the ideas that come together! More important, that brainstorm can turn an event from just a fun activity to one that also produces operational results for the effort invested!

Just to clarify the idea, I was not suggesting we partner with FTD specifically. I was wondering what other companies and agencies might also be celebrating their centennial in 2010 and finding someway to partner with their advertising or in some other way.
