I like the addition of the online rechartering tool but it is still cumbersome because the units still have to print out the document and get the signatures…I propose that we implement an online signature like the one the IRS uses for online tax return. This would help to make recharter less of a headache.

The problem with this idea is that, sometimes the end of the month falls on a weekend or a day that the council office is closed, but as long as a professional has it, it is still considered to be in on time. Specifically in December (depending on when New Years Eve falls) someone could turn in a recharter on Dec 31 and it not get into the registrars hands until Jan 5th, and chances are that that one recharter is not all he/she has to do that day, meaning he/she is pilled high with recharters to process. It can take a few days or even up to a week to process all the recharters. The month ends a few days later than the 'actual' end of the month to allow for situations such as this.

Also we both know that sometimes our units have a tendency to wait till the last minute or even be reactive to a deadline and the 'end of the month' accommodates that as well.

I know, it is not a perfect system, but I believe there are other issues that are more pressing than this one. Its not that i think this is a bad idea, it is just that it is not practical.
