One of the highlights of the jamboree is the arena show. One of the tough decisions has to be who will perform. You need to have someone who will appeal to a broad spectrum of people while still doing a "family" show.

I would suggest that "Weird Al" Yankovic would be an ideal choice. My wife and I went to see him this past August. His stage show is funny, clean, and the guitar player was even wearing a Scout uniform for part of the show.

The Arena Shows committee is tasked with designing the 2010 Arena Shows. The idea has been passed on to them.
I recently noted that Mike Rowe, host of Discovery Channel's Dirty Jobs is an Eagle Scout. I know (having been at the jamboree) that there are a lot of dirty jobs available and Mike should easily be able to do a whole show about the jamboree.

Should we then eliminate the Community Organization Award recognition for the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Award? VFW? American Legion?

Jeff, I agree that the Scouting uniform should not be used to emulate a military uniform, but I don't think that that is the case here. If it were, we would need to eliminate the medals and knots as they resemble the medals and ribbons on a military uniform.

Good idea, but I would suggest extending the recognition to all our veterans.

I agree that cleaning out latrines would not be a good one. But working the grinder, delivering ice in the middle of the night, and working food prep would be good places to start. The chance to be a part of either the opening or closing arena shows would be a draw as well. If nothing else, get him to do the National Anthem (he used to sing with the Baltimore opera).
