It is my understanding that a volunteers "trained" status in reports is based upon the most recent three trainings they have taken. So as they take more and more courses online and they are added to a persons training record in their profile on ScoutNet, when they take that fourth course (for example Trek Safely) which get's added to the top of their training log, it pushes down in the list one of the required courses for them to be considered trained so ScoutNet changes their status and does not report them as being trained.

We have many Commissioners that are 100% trained but ScoutNet does not report it that way because their last three courses were not the ones they needed to be considered trained for their position.

This needs to be corrected in ScoutNet.
When viewing a volunteers Personal Profile, can you add a field that lists the volunteers position name instead of (or in addition to) the position code. It is more helpful to know that a volunteer was a "Cubmaster" or "District Commissioner" instead of a "42" or a "79". I would think that a computer system like ScoutNet could much more easily than I look up those codes in a table and translate them to a piece of text that is more user friendly.

Ah yes. If changes to our database were only as simple as they seemed. Its a nice enhancement suggestion however of which I am forwarding to our programmers to consider for the next PAS release.
After searching for someone in the membership analysis section of MyBSA, when I click on the person's name and it opens their "Person Profile", but then you can't see their BSA ID#. It would be nice if you could add the BSA ID# field into that detailed view.

I would be more than willing to teach this locally, howeverI would rather not have to develop the curriculm from scratch. If national coudl develop the teaching materials as a course, that would be great, and all the help I need to deliver this important topic.

I agree with the concept of the National Council using the Web a vehicle for delivering more information and training, etc., however I really would like to see usability and user interface as a higher priority. the functionality and layout of the screens (never mind the responsiveness of the web servers) leaves much to be desired. While I may be a technologist, I udnerstand that the majority of the targeted customer base is not, and without the best UI design possible the penetration into the customer base (percentage of users) will be a fraction of the goal.

I don't get the votes up/down tally any more when I hover my mouse over the net total. did something change? Maybe I went to IE 8.0 in the mean time.

Most of the New England Scout shops use muffin tins. I agree, a more consistent and professional shopping organizer would be helpful.

Since we don't make Scouting magazine optional for Scouting leaders, why do we make Boy's Life optional for youth? What's wrong with a household with two registered youth both getting their own copy of Boy's Life? My wife and I are both registered leaders and we both get Scouting magazine and we both tear out, and write on, and put post-it notes on different pages of our OWN copies of Scouting magazine. National dues should include Boy's Life.

John,

What you appear to be describing to me is the Tiger/Cub/Webelos programs as already defined by the National Council. I think your issue is that too many Packs either have been allowed by their superivising organizations (Council/District/ Chartered Org.'s), or by themselves, to disolve into a pathetic example of the Cubbing program.

Each Pack needs at least one, if not all, parents with the passion and understanding of the Cubbing program that you have.

Please continue to get out and speak about the Cubbing program and spread your passion to as many adults in your community as possible.

There is very little that the program needs improving on (it has been fine-tuned for the past 100 years!), the issue is the lack of adult participation, commitment, and passion to make the program FUN for young boys. They need to learn to let go of their own insecurities and inhibitions and think like an 8 year old and have FUN. Lot's of active, playful, healthy FUN.

I beleive that the goal of the original Quality Unit program was to encourage Units to push themselves to the levels of excitement and integration that you speak of.

Keep the faith, and spread a little too! ;-)

Sports figures fame is too fickle. They change teams too frequently, and their proverbial skeletons come out of their closets all too frequently and bring shame on their sponsors. Too risky in my opinion.

Online tour permits still have a long way to go before they are easy (re: "user interface"), and convenient, for the Unit to use. Also, they need to collect more relevant data than just H&S data. It would be great to produce Council or District wide reports at the end of the year that show the most popular destinations and program activities by Units. Lastly, the tour permits application should be able to import all of a Units leaders names and their training records instead of requiring the Unit leader to re-enter them into the Tour Permit application.

While I generally agree with an event of this type, for many reasons, my only concern is that with a quantity of SIX belt loops earned in ONE day, that seams to dilute the value of the belt loops as something that requires VERY LITTLE commitment and experience.
I don't know the exposure time of this event to each belt loop, but possibly earning 4 belt loops in a day would be enough to satisfy a Cub with 90 minute sessions, rather than 6 belt loops with 60 minute sessions.
