Can national or the regions lend out 8-foot folding executive recruiting displays or retracting banner signs for use at career fairs? I was at a major university's career fair yesterday, and was really struck by the displays that most of the employers had. They did a great job of catching your eye and you could see the employer's booth from across the fieldhouse. These things aren't expensive overall-- less than $1000... But we in the local councils do executive recruiting so rarely that we wouldn't get much bang for our buck. I'd love to see an executive recruiting display kit that could be shared among councils.

I had 18 Eagle Scouts talk with me yesterday, 9 resumes, and 5 really serious candidates. I believe that we would be a much stronger movement if we had a more professional "Be an Executive Manager with the Boy Scouts of America" display.

Currently, we cannot look back in time to compare FOS campaigns. We can print a Membership report for any date up to five years ago... we need to be able to do the same in Fundraising. I can't tell what % of goal we were at unless I kept a printed copy of the report! Thanks!

If you want to retrieve data for a comparison, such as "How much had my district raised through March 17th of last year's campaign...", just run a Summary of Campaigns report and insert the campaign and date you desire. It will give you the historical data.

Gym memberships should be included in our health benefits. I am overweight like many of us, but I am bringing it down by going to the gym 4x/week. Unfortunately, it's cost me 10% of my take-home pay.

That's interesting-- I hadn't known this was included in our medical plan. Killing future Cub Scouts does seem hypocritical for a "values based" organization!

I agree! What a great benefit! In our area, the job market is so poor that I had to slash my retirement savings 50% just to keep our house. The match, which they used to call a "thrift plan," is one of the first things I'll look for when selecting my next Council.

Lynnette-- I think it's great that you want to argue what we "should" do. But the FACT is what we "do" do is not read the prospeak in digital format. So, if it's intended to convey information, it fails. If it's intended to save money, it succeeds.

Interesting idea... sort of like the rank requirments videos that came out on the Boy Scout Troop DVD a couple of years ago. I suppose the main difference, though, it that there are WAY more MB requirements than there are rank advancement requirements...

great idea-- lots of families in our area would choose the option to get the magazine at a "discounted" rate when purchased with a membership.

Fresh off of the Regional marketing summit in St. Louis, I know our council needs to engage social networking. But we need to know how to include youth... ie: any youth who gets involved on our social networking will have "personally identifiable information." Guidelines on how to deal with this would be much appreciated!

What a fun idea! My three nephews LOVE their temporary tattoos... It'd be great to give them one with the logo of where their Uncle Jeremy (and their cousin Jacob) "goes to camp at!"

IMHO, there's a big difference between temporary tattoos and the real thing... I don't think we'd see much pushback from families (like mine!) who frown on real tattoos.

I think this is the ProSpeak...

We in the Sagamore Council have a special red, white, and blue CSP for Webelos who cross over and a silver boarder for adult leaders in 5 specific postitions who assist with crossover (CM, WL, SM, UC, and ASM in charge of Webelos-to-Scout). A National recognition could also be a great idea!

This sort of touches on the "Words to Live By" campaign... some of those 10-second anecdotes are very moving! Look them up on YouTube! Great idea!

I made an overhead transparency of the SIA that ran after September 11... volunteers enjoy being reminded of that on the anniversary each year. a SIA database would be terrific for many community things-- heatstroke awareness in the summer, combatting drunk driving at prom season, etc.

That's a great idea! The MBC training could even be a Fast Start style training. I remember a one-sheet MBC info sheet a couple of year ago, and it was very useful. This would be even better!

It would also be great for professional staff to be able to download videos from MyBSA... I have had to keep a personal stash of DVD resources at my desk so that I have a copy when someone requests something for roundtable or training. Being able to download the video would make it always available-- especially if I'm out in the field and don't have the video(s) a volunteer or presentation requires!

Heh, one of our board members has an interpreter strip that reads "Southern Drawl."

If we're going to do a "texting" strip, I want a "133T 5P33K" strip, too...

I am an MBC for Communications, and there's a requirement (optional) for designing a website page. I'll bet there's a similar, more involved reqirement in the Computers badge.

I'm lukewarm on this... whatever we did, it would have to be COOL, not DORKY, or it would have the opposite effect... and that means $$$ to spend, unfortunately. The Cub Scout action archery game a couple of years back was pretty good!

The flash (shockwave) games on www.joincubscouting.org are great, because people don't expect a lot out of a flash game! I enjoy directing people to that site for their kids to play online.

I agree. Currently, when you print a Registrant Print Selections report, ScoutNet seems to randomly select an unimportant training to put into the "training taken" field. It is VERY difficult to find out what leaders have or have not taken a particular training.

I think a girls' program would be a great idea, with the genders growing and developing in "like groups" at this stage of development. Girls and boys need to be held seperately. Can the American Heritage Girls become one of Scouting's programs? Sort of a "Girl Cub Scouts." The GSUSA have failed to show success and/or character-based leadership with young women, but the BSA could bring some great benefits to those families!

What about a belt loop for the Cub Scouts? Martial arts is very much a "sport" in that aspect. I have a number of parents every year that ask about this. Karate is very popular around here, and there are a couple of very responsible instructors. A belt loop would be terrific!
