I have been looking for additional copies of the Venturing/Venturer Tool Box that was given out in Nashville. Since it is already navigable as an html page, can it be uploaded to the website and make each video and document available for download?

There are so many things available on the DVD that being able to site down with potential Advisors and give them access to all this information at once and at any moment would simplify everything!

From: Bill Evans, Youth Development Team Leader

This very good resource is done by a volunteer in NC named Al Bormuth. All currently makes several resource DVDs and can even customize them for councils. He does this all at his own expense. We are hoping that with the reorganization, we will eventually be able to make the information available on his DVDs available on our website.

All we need to remove you as an email recipient is your email address. Internally we will then remove you from our database. Simply replying to an email and typing 'unsubscribe' in the subject line will get this taken care of. Please give us 24 business hours to complete this. Thank you.
The National Association for Interpretation is a non-profit organization that trains and supports professional and amateur interpreters in natural and cultural history. Their training covers reseach, thematic lesson planning and presentation. Many of my volunteers talk about these points in planning meetings but none of them seem to have a come basis of training so it is hard to know if the word they are using have the same meaning to each person.

This could also be integrated into the Venture Leader Skills Course, National Youth Leader Training and Woodbadge. There is a cost associated with the certification course but with a national partnership that cost should amount to the materials needed to acheive the certification.

I use by Blackberry extensively while on the road. It does take a while to load over the network and a "mobile format" would be very helpful.

A great point. Of course it help's that Richard Louv sited Scouting as the a top program combating "Nature Deficit Disorder." I use the results and conclusions presented in the book when meeting with school adiministrators and personell as selling points to our program. The parrallel between connection with nature and test scores grabs their attention right away.

Interpretation, in this sense, is the art of putting into words natural or cultural experiences and phenomenon. Some things I have done are maple sugaring demonstartions (including period costume) and teaching young children how to find the North Star.

The Website should read www.interpnet.com

Globally, when a country's Scouting program has become Co-Ed across the board, membership grew dramatically in the first 2-3 years. Following that membership began and continues to decline consistently.

I believe that we are offering something that is more appealing to girls and young women than other programs offer. Creating a program that is whole family oriented (in that it also recognized the daughter's achievements) definitely sounds like an idea that would bring more people in.

Directly paralleling a girl's program with the existing Cub program would be a mistake. I believe that simply changing names and adding requirements would not be enough either. Developmental needs for elementary boys and girls have a very large gap between cognitive, social and physical skills. A girls program needs to appear very different. Parents will notice if their daughter is required to just do more for the same level recognition. The requirements for each level will have to be tailored to the needs of that particular age and gender.

Outdoor activities would be a special challenge to create events that meet the needs of both boys and girls as well. We may be able to recruit girl Cubs with fire, guns and knives; but the way that girls will react and play with the outdoors is markedly different from how a boy plays. Consider the all-mighty stick. A Wolf cub sees a sword or gun. A girl of the same age would likely see… we’ll I can’t speak from experience on this but she wouldn’t see a sword or gun in all likelihood.

Parents may benefit and it is likely that a whole family would join if Cubs became Co-Ed. Having separate dens and different ranks would begin to address the differences in boys and girls but we will need to use and conduct research on childhood development and gender issues to ensure that we can create a program that will do right by everyone.

I would prefer to see an site owned and maintained by BSA for this purpose. When you read the fine print on YouTube, Facebook and other sites you learn that all material submitted to these services becomes someone else's property; usually Google.
