It would be very helpful to be able to keep track of and run lists of parents of boys who earned the rank of Eagle Scout. We are very similar to a university in that we have young men who graduate from our program with a PHD in Scouting. The difference is we allow the parents too slowly fade away from us. Often times the parents are exactly the types of people we could use as commissioners, district committee members, board members, and donors etc. We capture some parent information on the Eagle application. It would be helpful if this were a field(s) when entering the data for Eagle Rank into ScoutNet by the Registrar to capture Name, Address, phone and email. Then on the back end the ability to run a report of "Eagle Parent(s)" from MyBSA or ScoutNet that could be exported to create mailing lists and also easily add to the community campaign prospect lists.

Do we need to create a training module for Scouts and Venturers to smooth their public Service projects? Include how to write proposals, securing building and/or public gathering permits, discuss liability issues, and other sspects of plaaning a project

This idea is to allow young ladies to become Eagle Scouts in the Venturing Program. Starting at age 14, they would have to do all of the requirements that the boys have to do and be done before the age of 18. In theory, Eagle can be attained in 2.5 years, so 4 years is plenty of time to fulfill the requirements. If adopted, this idea would allow for more membership and more supply sales and fill a void that is not presently offered by any other girl’s group. It would require no program modifications, only a new Venturing Book for girls with the requirements in it taken from the Boy Scout Handbook. Venturing is already co-ed so it is not really a departure from what is happening today.

As everyone knows, we are competing heavily with sports in recruiting cub scouts. The kids are interested, but the problem is parents just don't have enough time! This is especially true in rural districts. Why not affiliate cub scouts or a form of it with sports and the local sports organizations to draw kids in!
One possible solution: Offer a seasonal fall membership (August - December) for less than or equal to $5.00. Or, it would be better if it was free. However, kids would have to pay for their advancements/awards. The local sports center or an outside local organization that would work with the local sports center would be the charter organization.
- Kids that joined up with this seasonal membership unit would work solely on sports, x game style sports, and maybe some other outdoor activities that any active DAD could teach. The focus would be on earning "Sports belt loops and Pins" from the Academic and Sports Program Guide. !!!As we all know, kids that advance or earn something immediately are more likely to stay in the program!!!! - The kids could then be introduced or move into regular cub scouting units. - Sports teams or leagues would partner with the local scout district. It would allow those teams or leagues to use the BSA advancement / awards program, while introducing the kids to scouting in a fun way.
(What I envision) - The local sports league would offer this FREE membership program to all boys cub scout age. One or several sign ups would be held. The scouting district would actively recruit DADS to be coaches for actual teams and this Free Membership Program. Before or after practice or on special days, the boys would gather at the Sports Center to work on Sports Belt Loops, Pins, and any other special advancements. Cub Scout units would be encouraged to participate as coaches / teachers. Award ceremonies would be held in conjunction with practices, games, or etc every week or biweekly.
The program would only last two months in the fall and two in the spring with the goal of introducing kids to cub scouts in a fun way, let them earn something, and provide sports leagues an opportunity to begin an advancement / awards program.
Advantages: - Low key time commitment - only two months - Activities DADS and KIDS would be interested in - Kids would immediately and easily be able to EARN something - Volunteers and parents would see the benefits of the Cub Scout Advancement Program. - Increase scouting's visibility - Encourage older Boy Scouts and Venturers to volunteer by teaching an easy sports program. - IT WOULD AFFILIATE CUB SCOUTS AND SPORTS TOGETHER AND SHOW THAT IT IS OKAY TO DO BOTH!

Not sure if this is a new idea, I believe it has been discussed in the past. As a way to keep track of Scouting alumni, each Eagle Scout should receive an email address that stays with them for life. I believe many colleges are doing this already. An address could be: johnsmith@eaglescout.org or something like that. This way we could keep track of them easier. They could have it forwarded to a primary email address. It could be setup where they would have to maintain it and keep it current. In this day and age, and this age group, email is a how they communicate. There are lots of details that would need to be looked at, like, would it be only for NESA members, or all Eagles/Scouts members, or, would you get the email address with your paid NESA membership? Just thought I’d float the idea out there. Thanks for the tool to do so!
