I think this is a great idea and will be a source of tremendous growth as we learn from one another on such a grand scale. I love the video of the chief talking about this site, but I only know this exists because it was mentioned during my training. This needs to go out to every council as soon as possible.

Thank you for your comments, we are so glad you like it. We hope you will tell your BSA friends. We have sent out communications about the site to the entire organization previously. But even new ideas take a while to become habit. We will continue to spread the word and we appreciate your help on that too.

There should be two sites - one for professional staff, another for volunteers. There are too many things we discuss on the business side of Scouting that will frustrate volunteers. All the discussions about the BSA Info site, FOS reports, putting a DTR into Excel, stop levels on reports - they don't apply to volunteers. Likewise, professionals don't need to have pages of ideas on unit level activities either.

Granted, there are several great ideas here that apply to professionals and volunteers alike: Centennial Quality Unit status, one page applications, Webelos to Scout transition, etc.

Think about it, there are 137 ideas now after two weeks from about 4,000 professionals. How complicated will it be when 1.2 million volunteers add their ideas? At that same rate, there will be over 41,000 ideas in two weeks from volunteers.

If someone thinks I'm being anti-volunteer, I've been misunderstood. I just see the need for two completely different sites. Might also include categories for volunteers like advancement, camping, camporees, civic service, Eagle Scout projects, Den Leaders, Cub Leader training, Boy Scout Leader Training ... more specific so they will be easier to navigate. 41,000 ideas is a lot to search.

Good Lord, It must be a night mare to monitor this site with its numerous threads and replies. To have to moderate a volunteer site...I don't want the job. Not to mention, we are for the most part civil to each other here. Volunteers can be much more, um...passionate.

Almost every professional I talk to about this site has no idea what I'm talking about. And it's such a great tool!
