Centennial Quality Uniform Shirts
The Centennial Quality Uniform Shirts are much shorter in length than the previous uniform shirt. This means that our larger members find that the shirt is untucked from their centennial uniform pants when they bend over to pick something up. The shirts need to be longer to ensure that the shirt remains tucked in and we continue to look neat.

Why not stick with the physically strong rathern than scouting rounds you out.

I agree with the mission that we are building physical fitness but the length of the uniform also impacts our taller Scouts and Scouters. Most dress shirts fall longer and allow more fabric to be tucked in then the current uniform.

I do agree that they should offer more big and tall sizes of scouting uniforms to accomodate some of our staff and volunteers. Another thing that I have yet to find the answer to is on the new uniforms, where do you put the commissioner arrowhead honor? There simply is no place for it, at least in its traditional location.

I agree. The uniform shirts don't fit well. It's not just people who are "larger" my shirt comes out all the time.

If you all will notice, the shirt is made to be worn untucked! No more shirt tales, squared off all the way around with side slits!
If the shirt is made to be worn untucked it still needs to be longer so that our volunteers are not showing mid-drift on their events.

The first thing I noticed about the new shirt was I now have what women have. How embarassing. Get rid of the puffy front pockets!!!Nobody uses them anyway.

Put ONE piece of velcro on the pockets. (shirts and pants) I can only use one hand to open a pocket at a time and if both sides have velcro one side closes as I am trying to open the other. Very frustrating.

Can we talk about pants on this thread as well?

I hate my new pants. It is fine to have the little elastic expandable for my gut, but if I try to put my hand in my pocket and God forbid both at the same time, it feels like a steel wire cutting across my hips and crotch. What's that all about?

I also don't like the switchbacks. They are not as professional looking as the straight legs. We need the choice. I felt more comfortable walking into a bank president in uniform with the straight legs. Now I feel like I am coming from a campout to see him. Not professional looking at all.

Also, if I can continue...since we have such a growing hispanic culture who is already afraid of or at least don't trust the military from their home country, who in the world thought to make our pants look like the military? I had a colleague recently in west Texas who while at a diner saw several INS agents come in. The ONLY difference between what he was wearing and the INS was they also had guns. Get rid of the baggy side pockets.

I need to be able to put my hispanic families at ease and not on guard because of my clothes. Right now, I don't wear my uniform for fear of running them all off. The idea of a new uniform, great. It still is not in a format kids are not embarassed to wear or is nonintimidating to our growing client base.

Check with your local Scout Shop. Shirts are now coming in 2 inches longer.

Not offering a Tall option has been a set-back for our BSA uniforms for a long time. Let's get with the times and actually provide service to our customers. What looks worse than a uniform that doesn't fit correctly or the shirt keeps coming untucked?

I noticed this the first time I put it on. And with slits cut in the sides, it almost promotes itself to be worn like a cabana shirt ...untucked! Also loose the velcro, cheap buttons and non-embroidered flag and "Boy Scouts of America." And bring back the more durable, higher-quality material too.
