Arrow Points
Never understood Arrow Points. When a Cub earns all he can get, in order to display them proudly at a Pack Meeting he has to keep his uniform shirt untucked. The leaders all tell him to tuck in his shirt and then he has to hide all of his Arrow Points. I'm sure we're smart enough as an organization to fix that one.

Indeed. I think the Cub advancement program is a mountain of once-great ideas that have accumulated over time like Arrow Points, Progress Towards Ranks beads, belt loops, activity badges, etc. All great stuff, but altogehter there is such a mind-boggling variety. And I know that people hate sewing on the little odd-shaped Arrow Points too!

I agree that the Cub Scout advancement and awards program has grown way to complex over the year. Most leaders do not understand it and most packs do not use all or even most of the potential awards--it is overwhelming to try to understand it all.

The boys in our Wolf and Bear dens enjoy earning the arrow points. They have achieved their rank advancement by the Blue/Gold banquet and other wise have nothing to do. The arrow point have prevented our pack from loosing a high percentage of boys to spring sports. Something we struggle with all ready. Now are you suggesting removal of my best tool to keep these boys engaged?
Or perhaps you are suggesting a new location of the arrow point (ie. on either side of the pocket) to keep them visable?
You only stated a problem, without giving us a solution to vote upon.

No, the problem is location, as stated. The implied solution offered is - anywhere else besides the current location.
