Local Tour Permits
Tour permits have been around since the ‘60’s (as far back as I can find) for national tours. Local Tour permit lore is fuzzy when they came to be. We are re-examining their use and would like to use the innovation engine to see if they are beneficial to a local council or if scouting could be served better in another way. We know there are a wide variety of local standards on how these are administered.

Are local tour permits a beneficial tool for your council or units?

Online tour permits still have a long way to go before they are easy (re: "user interface"), and convenient, for the Unit to use. Also, they need to collect more relevant data than just H&S data. It would be great to produce Council or District wide reports at the end of the year that show the most popular destinations and program activities by Units. Lastly, the tour permits application should be able to import all of a Units leaders names and their training records instead of requiring the Unit leader to re-enter them into the Tour Permit application.
