Let me access recharter roster changes before March implementation
Warning In Progress
My council does all recharters starting Jan 1, but they don't get implemented until March 1. Before handing over the paper charters I'm going through a district membership report (excel spreadsheet) of all my adults blacking out dropped adults, typing in new adults, and changing positions and adding email addresses. I'm doing this so that I can send emails to people to get trained in January and February. If I just hand over the paper charters to the registrar I would essentially just be totally blind for two months until the charters are implemented. Is there a better way to do this? Could National make it so I could access my post-charter roster (with email addresses too please) before it's implemented? Please don't tell me to look in ScoutNET one unit/person at a time with not even a copy/paste feature. This would essentially require me to do the same thing I'm doing now, typing out each change by hand, very time consuming and tedious.

Mr. Gibbon’s suggestion would appear to address the writer’s request. On-going improvements to the on-line rechartering application should address some of this.

I'm not sure why you or your council is doing all this "extra" stuff with Excel spreadsheets. With the Internet-based Rechartering (IR) system, unit volunteers can do a wonderful job of updating records, and the IR system has proven to be very popular with our Scouters.

I also recommend that your council considering re-aligning the charters to December 31 rather than February 28/29. The realignment to a calendar year in the three councils I have worked in makes membership management, FOS campaign card generation, and commissioner service all much better (and December has much less program and activity competing with the recharter process). Calendar year is also an easier way to explain BSA membership fees/pro-rated fees to new people.

It would be helpful if eventually we can get MyScouting and Internet Advancement (IA) to also access training course attendance records, so that unit leaders (through IA) and individuals )through MyScouting) could see and track completion of all basic, supplemental, and advanced training.

Rather than you doing so before the charters are posted your registrar can prnt out a roster for you after the unit is posted - it goes into a hold file on the transmittal and will automaticaly post on March 1, 2009. I start checking and posting the recharters as soon as the paperwork is complete and fees paid. the only glich i have found is that the rosters will not print from the print que as the membership cards and charter certificates do. I have also found that i have to print out the expiring rosters at the end of december since our recharter window opens January 1st - if a unit goes in and completes their recharter online - their roster will no longer be available under "expiring rosters
